Last Friday I drove down to Hayward with my mom to check out the opening for the Bill Owens exhibition at PhotoCentral. It was my first time at PhotoCentral, it’s a big facility and it was filled with photos from various stages in Owens’s career. I had a chance to chat with Bill for a couple of minutes about what he’s been up to.
Some pics from the show:

PhotoCentral exterior.

Cabinets with Owens artifacts.

Lower hallway.

Prints from “Suburbia.”

Upper hallway with Peace Corps images.

All American refreshments.

Bill Owens chats with an adoring fan.

Left to right: Bill Owens, print of “Richie, 30 years later,” Richie’s son(?), Richie in the flesh, and a print of Richie on a Big Wheel in the early 1970s from “Suburbia.”

My favorite Owens image, sand blaster from “Working (I do it for the Money)”

Some of Owens’s cameras including a Leica and a Brooks Veriwide. And a BB gun.
