Last weekend I flew from San Francisco to Las Vegas and rented a car so I could drive to Flagstaff, AZ for the opening of “Landscape Interrupted” at the Coconino Center for the Arts in Flagstaff.
The show was curated by Joe Cornett from the Coconino arts center and was juried by William Jenkins. Jenkins was the curator of the “New Topographics” exhibition at the George Eastman House in 1975. New Topographics has been a major influence on today’s landscape photography so I was overjoyed to have two of my works selected by Jenkins for the show. Before the opening, the only other photographer I knew who had work in the show was Liz Kuball so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got to Flagstaff.
At the opening I met a bunch of awesome people: two photographers who live near me who I hadn’t met previously, Ryan Hendon and David Wolf; Joe Cornett, the curator; plus the folks from the art center, Robin, Ren, and Elizabeth. I had an amazing time hanging out with everyone and I’m so glad I made the trip out to Arizona.
On to the opening photos…

Hey, thanks for posting this and taking some pics of my work! I’m really happy to see what it looked like, and disappointed I wasn’t able to be there myself to see it. If only Review LA hadn’t been the same weekend. . . .
Noah, great to have you attend the opening. Love your photos! (in the blog, but also very much the ones in the exhibition)
Thanks for posting this Noah. I look like such a goof in the photo of me but I really appreciate you including a shot of my work. It was great meeting you and seeing your work too. Keep up the good work and I’d love to meet up for some art banter sometime in the near future, a little closer to home this time.
